Honda Unveils the All-New NM4 Vultus

I can almost hear some fellows scream in joy: “Look, it’s the DN-01’s nephew,” when catching the first glimpse of Honda’s all-nee NM4 Vultus. Despite the obvious and most welcome reinterpretation of DN-01’s cues, the NM4 Vultus is a new bike, based on an updated platform and promising a thrilling experience.

Though maybe a bit on the edgy side for some more conservative riders, the Honda NM4 Vultus has some similarities with the intriguing Chak Molot concept: a smooth overall design presented in a rough way, having the rider balancing between admiration and a dash of uncertainty.

There’s a massive, undeniable dose of futuristic approach in the NM4 Vultus, and we might even say this looks like a crossbreed between a Ducati Diavel and a maxi-scooter. Still, the bold front-facing fairing and overall profile is a testament of the DN-01 heritage, and a glorious one, too.

It looks like the 2014 Honda Vultus is a solo machine, much like the Rune or the DN were, though with a compromise for two-up use, as the rider’s backrest is in fact a tilting pillion seat. The LCD dash is stylish, simple enough and comprehensive and makes a very interesting contrast with the old-school handlebars on tall risers. So we’ve also got some dragster DNA here, as well, and this is great.

The 2014 Honda NM4 Vultus is said to be powered by the same 745cc parallel twin lump the NC750 series uses, with excellent mileage and plenty of power and torque for being fun in almost any scenario. If we are to believe motoblog, the Vultus is equipped with Dual Clutch Transmission with Drive and Sport modes, and paddle-shifting.

ABS is standard for the 18 and 17-inch wheels, while the beefy 200/50 rear tire is there for a very serious reason: this bike wants to be ridden hard! Matching sidecases are also available, with the Vultus being expected to arrive in either black or white, for a yet undisclosed price. If this bike rides half as good as it looks, then it’s hats off to Honda once more.
