Honda Tops Residual Value Awards in the US

Honda had a satisfying end of the year, as it topped the 2009 ALG Residual Value Awards in the United States. The Accord won the Best Midsize Car category, the Jazz (Fit in the US) model was named the Best Compact Car and the Odyssey Minivan, which has a unique body style in North America, was crowned in the Best Minivan category. Honda is familiar with the ALG Residual Value Awards, as since 2001 it has won 20 model awards.

“In a challenging economy, residual value moves up on the list of buyer considerations,” said Mr. John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co. “These ALG awards once again recognise Honda’s commitment to offer high-quality products with long-term value.”

Apart from Honda, the Acura brand also received the Luxury Brand Residual Award for the second consecutive year.

“Acura has taken a different tack than most luxury brands and its decision to stick with front-wheel drive platforms and smaller engines has served it well in the current uncertain times,” said James Clark, General Manager of ALG. “Acura’s outstanding reliability, simple packaging schemes and value pricing with low incentive levels were major factors in its repeat finish at the top of the luxury market this year,” he said.

Honda is no stranger to important auto industry awards, as just recently its Accord and Jazz (Fit in the US) models were named in the Car and Driver Magazine’s “10 Best Cars Awards.”
