Honda To Kill the Legend and Acura RL

Honda has decided to reorganize its vehicle ranges, killing some of the models that are not popular any more.

According to the Nikkei business daily (via Reuters), the Japanese company will discontinue the Acura RL as well as the Japanese version of the car, the Honda Legend.

The Acura RL currently sits at the top of the carmaker’s premium range in the U.S. However, in the recent years the car has been somehow cannibalized by the lower-placed TL model.

The latter came with a better overall package, offering a better interior, beefier powerplants and other features that surpassed the flagship mode. This has obviously led to the upper model’s sales decline, as the vehicle didn’t have (m)any arguments to convince buyers.

The report adds that Honda has also made production changes that only target its domestic market. It seems that the Civic’s gasoline version will be discontinued. This means that the Civic line-up will only include the hybrid version of the car until the next generation of the vehicle will arrive late next year. In addition to that the Elysion minivan will also see its production being ended.

We would like to tell you one or two things about the aforementioned Acura TL, as the 2011 model year of the vehicle has recently been caught by our team of spy photographers. The vehicle will offer a redesigned front fascia, with the most important change being the fitting of a front grille that uses a less controversial design.
