Honda Sets Asian Production Record

The appetite the Asian continent has developed these past two years for automobiles is still causing a lot of excitement for foreign carmakers. Whereas, overall, the spoiled manufacturers in Asia (and when we say Asia, we mostly mean China) are American or German, the Japanese ones aren't far behind either.

Honda, one of the biggest automotive players on the market, announced this week that it has registered, for the 12th month in a row, sales and production increase. The good performance in the region meant that Honda's global operations registered the 11th month of increase.

Honda produced 305,406 vehicles worldwide in October, up 1.4 percent from a year ago. In China, the production reached a level of 55,507 vehicles, an increase of 4.4 percent from last year and a record for the month in the country.

In Japan, Honda's home market, things are not however as bright. For October this year, the carmaker experienced its first decrease in ten months, but the carmaker blames the negative achievement on the fact that the Japanese market is currently in its second month of decrease (New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive month as well).

Honda is currently caught in a bit of a jam, following rumors of its models experiencing the same acceleration issues which nearly crippled Toyota in the beginning of the year. According to initial information, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will be launching an investigation into some 25,000 vehicles which could be affected by such an acceleration problem.
