Earlier today, Honda Motor Co. announced it has already received 62,000 orders for the brand new Fit model, which has yet to reach European and US dealerships. The model was launched in Japan on September 5th and demand is now more than four times the usual 15,000 units per month.
The company was able to deliver 19,388 new Fit models to customers last month, which made this the third best selling car, behind the Toyota Aqua and Prius C.

Honda says that 70% of sales are for the new hybrid model, that achieves class-leading 36.4 km/L on the JC08 cycle. This uses 1.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine working together with a high-output electric motor and lithium-ion battery. This high-tech engine is coupled not to a slow CVT, but to a crisp new seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox. It can run at speeds of up to 40 km/h in electric model.

Honda Japan also says that 46% of buyers opted for navigation, while 70% fitted their Fit with LED headlights.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
