Honda S2000 Gets Off the Track Trying to Pass a Ferrari

When you’re on the track and you see a Honda S2000 battling it out with a Ferrari, it’s difficult not to vote for the underdog, especially given the JDM machine’s superb balance. However, the S2000 driver in the clip below doesn’t know when to quit.

It all starts out with the classic “Honda trying hard to overtake Ferrari” scenario. The action happens on Thunderhill West in North California, giving us a rather tight and sunny setup.

As a corner approaches, the Honda S2000 driver decides to stay on the gas as the Ferrari 360 Modena follows its line and starts braking.

This obviously brings the Honda dangerously close to the Prancing Horse, with the S2000 driver being forced to get off the track. This is where the chassis assets of the S2000 shine, as the car manages to get back on the track shortly.

Many have rushed to point their virtual fingers at the Ferrari driver and even the Youtube title of the video does this. Nevertheless, while track rules may differ from those of the road, this is a car-at-the-back-is-responsible” case.

Sure, unlike on the road, a car on a circuit must allow the ones behind to pass if they are faster, but not in the middle of the corner. In fact, the driver of the 360 does leave the overly ambitious S2000 driver pass him right after the Honda returns to the tarmac.

Oh well, at least the situation ended without any of the two cars being hit. Let’s hope the guy in the S2000 reflashed his driving style after this episode.
