Honda Recalls 2nd Generation City

Safety recalls are sure driving us nuts these days, especially after Toyota confirmed that millions of cars all over the globe are affected by that serious throttle pedal glitch that could kill us in a few seconds. However, this time we're going to talk about Honda, the Japanese carmaker who's also stepping in the recall circus with the "help" of its second generation City.

The short story so far: Honda launched a safety recall saying that no less than 8,532 units of the second generation City manufactured in 2007 will be recalled in India in the upcoming weeks. Obviously, some people worried that this recall might be related to the one belonging to Toyota which, according to some source, might spread towards Asia as well.

However, Honda said the cars will be recalled for a preventive part replacement of the power window switch, with all costs to be supported by the parent company.

"Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) is proactively replacing the part in these vehicles related to the potential problem of smoke coming out from the Power Window Switch if water enters the driver window when window is left open during heavy rain or is exposed to any other liquid due to spillage," the company said in a release.

Additionally, Honda emphasized that this recall ONLY concerns the second generation City and the third generation, also sold in India, is not affected and does not require any part replacement. Additionally, the Indian Jazz is safe as well, as the previous recall is only aimed at the first generation model.
