Honda Recalls 2012 Civic Over Fuel Feed Line Issue

Honda seems to be experiencing a great deal of problems with the Civic, announcing one recall after another in the United States. The company has already called back a total of 18,056 Civic vehicles from the model year 2011, after having discovered a problem with the fuel pump, and now is doing the same with 1,156 model-year 2012 Civic vehicles in the U.S.

According to Honda, the problem has been identified in the fuel feed line. During the manufacture of the fuel line assembly, an O-ring may have been displaced, so Honda now plans to fix the problem before an incident occurs.

Though so far, the Japanese company is saying that it has no information about any incidents that resulted from this problem, nor does it have any information about people experiencing problems with their vehicles. Moreover, it states that most of the affected vehicles have not yet been sold and will be repaired prior to sale.

But let’s see what could result this faulty fuel feed line. The direct consequences of such problem, in its worst scenario form, is that it could potentially lead to a fuel leak at a joint where two segments of pipe attach to each other. This means that in case of a crash it might lead to a fire.

The automaker is advising all owners of affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification (word to the owners will be sent starting May 27).

Needless to say, the repairs will be made, as usual in recall cases, free of charge for the owners of the affected vehicles. A full list of the vehicles in this situation, as well as additional information about the problem, can be found at the following link.
