Shuhei Nakamoto, Honda Racing Corporation Vicepresident has told MotoGP.com that the production version of the RC213V machine has been delayed, but the bike will most likely ready for testing at Valencia, the last race in the 2013 MotoGP season.
The production racer will run a spec ECU (the Dorna-approved one) and will hold 24 liters of fuel, as opposed the 20 l the MotoGP bikes will be allowed staring with 2014. The valves will be spring-actuated and the bike will not have a seamless gearbox. The MotoGP machine comes with pneumatic valves and has a seamless gearbox, but Nakamoto said the latter choice has been made for technology reasons and not financial ones.
Nakamoto also added that the bike will cost 1 million euros ($1.338 mil), this also being the reason behind the delay: “It is not easy building a Grand Prix bike for a price of one million euros,” and the hardest part of all this was the low-cost chassis retaining the full performance specs.
Ten of these bikes will be built, with none reaching wealthy fans or collectors. Nakamoto says tht bikes will only be available in the MotoGP paddock. There is no news as to which teams will get these bikes, but we know HRC will sell them directly.
