Earlier this year we told you that Honda plans to replace their Big Red SxS with the new Pioneer machines which were about to be built in the Honda South Carolina (HSC) Mfg. Plant. The moment has come, as Honda has officially started the manufacturing for the new Pioneer side-by-side vehicles.
SC state governor Nikki Haley was among the 900 associates and guests which witnessed the production startup, Dealernews reports.
Honda's Timmonsville plant comes with a $27 million (€20.6 mil) investment plan for the next 4 years and opened up 65 new jobs for the Pioneer manufacturing. The Pioneer comes in 2-seat and 4-seat versions, in August and September, respectively, and will be marketed as a 2014 vehicle.
Honda's presence in South Carolina is also involved with the Francis Marion University and their Industrial Engineering program. Since the first time Honda South Carolina started production in the state back in 1998, no less than 9 ATV models an 7 different engines were manufactured.
