Japanese automaker Honda is about to start testing its Micro Commuter prototypes in Japan before the end of the year, Autocar reports, adding that the company will use the data collected to analyze “usage patterns and vehicle needs”.
Developed as a competitor for the Renault Twizy, the Honda Micro Commuter is motivated by a 15kW electric motor and lithium-ion battery. Back in November, the vehicle’s range was estimated at 37 miles (59.5 km), while top speed was reached at around 50 mph (80 km/h). This figures are expected to change once prototype testing begins.
Little else is know about Honda’s future plans for the Micro Commuter, but the vehicle will probably make its debut on the Japanese market if production is approved. As we mentioned earlier this month, Nissan is also working on a Renault Twizy-based small electric car for the Japanese market.
