Honda Jazz Receives Five-Star ANCAP Rating

Honda’s Australian arm today announced that the Jazz, which has recently been updated, has received a five-star ANCAP rating, the highest possible. The Jazz comes with multiple active and passive safety features that allowed it to achieve this and we’d like to get into the details.

The Jazz comes with six airbags, two front airbags for the driver and passenger, two side airbags and two full length curtain airbags. The vehicle also uses intelligent seatbelts: when the vehicle detects an imminent impact, the seatbelts are instantly tightened to keep the occupants in their places. Subsequently, these are gradually released to limit pressure on the chest.

As for the electronic stability control, the vehicle is fitted with Honda’s Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), a system that combines individual brake control, engine power and Traction Control to keep the car on the track. The Jazz relies on an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) Body Structure that keeps the passenger cell untouched in case of an impact.

Jazz also features Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure that helps protect the driver and passengers in the unfortunate event of an accident. The ACE Body Structure uses the Jazz’s chassis, made in some parts from high tensile steel, to direct the energy from an impact away from the people inside,” explains the press release.

Jazz has five-star safety across the entire range, which is not common in the light segment. Jazz combines all this advanced technology and is also stylish, versatile, outstanding value for money and great fun to drive,” said Honda Australia’s General Manager, Sales and Marketing Mr. Stephen Collins.
