When a man baptizes his custom motorcycle "Dolores" (dolor is Latin for pain), we really think it really stands for something. Unfortunately for Indonesia bike enthusiast Arya Pratama, the bike got its name from the pain caused by his father's demise, just before the project was ready.
Yet, the Dolores is a captivating as it could ever be, and the sad story behind its name is outshined by its beauty. Commissioned by Arya to Jakarta-based builder Rio of Twenix, the initial GL200 was in terrible shape and pretty mauled, even by the standards of an old bike worth $400 (€300).
Rio mentioned the broken rear frame, oil leaks everywhere and a very poor condition. However, where there's a will there is a way, so he rebuilt the frame according to the cafe-racer standards and got a Clubman bar for the classic look. With the engine repaired, a sandblast prepared it for the black paint, and polishing the fin edges made it look lime a million dollars.
All bodywork has been hand-crafted in-house by Rio, hands, hammers and anvils. No English wheels and all, just plain old-school tinkering until the perfect shape. And yes, that means, fender, cowl, side covers and tank.
With a classic gold/white pinstripe work and Arya's lucky number 7, Dolores rolls now on the streets of Jakarta, always to remember its rider about his beloved father and being a strong statement of how nice is Rio and his Twenix Motorcycles' art. Via PipeBurn.
