It looks like sometimes the old story with the ugly classmate in high school turning into a breathtaking beauty is the only way things could happen. While in real life it may be a rare event, it occurred in Sebastiao Guerra's life, a bike mechanic in Lisbon, Portugal.
This fairy tale did not involve a girl, but a bike: the 1999 Honda FX650. Not what we'd call a fugly bike, but no beauty queen either. However, Sebastiao saw deeper than the rather dull lines and attire of the FX650, and his creativity and passion for motorcycles did the rest.
Willing to keep the project on a decent budget, Sebastiao has reused pretty much everything he could, after reshaping, re-adapting and turning the parts into what he needed. The battery box has hand made, and complemented the few new parts: lights, exhaust and handlebars.
The rear frame got chopped a bit to make it shorter and sportier, and the original seat had to be remodeled into a very Ducati “Monsteresque” shape we totally love. Finally, the aftermarket uber-aggressive exhausts with dark wrapping add the ultimate touch of tidiness to Sebastiao's build.
And since the SG-01 is such a neat machine, Sebastiao has already been commissioned for the SG-02, a similar jewel based on the increasingly popular Honda Dominator. Great job!
We're also glad Sebastiao refrained from using Firestones and went for the Tourances...
