According to recent reports, Honda have decided to move production of the Fit/Jazz hybrid outside of Japan, where it had been produced until now. They have already started production of the standard version of the Jazz/Fit in China.
With the Jazz/Fit being Honda’s best selling hybrid model, with 86,000 cars sold last year all around the world, Honda is hoping to limit the negative effect of the strengthening yen.

The new Thai facility in the Ayutthaya province will assemble the Fit/Jazz hybrids from kits shipped over from Japan, at first, with parts sourcing and manufacturing to be sorted afterward. Along with the Complete Knock Down kits (CKDs) sent from Japan, the 1.3-liter engines and the hybrid drivetrain will also be shipped from Japan.

The Jazz/Fit Hybrid built in Thailand will be the first Honda hybrid to be built outside of Japan - let’s just hope that the tried and tested Honda build quality isn’t lost along the way.
