Honda Fireblade Crashing Hard into Dacia Logan MCV

Sometimes all it takes for a nasty crash to occur is a small mistake from a road user and a dash of bad luck, but when two people meet on the same road in disregard of basic safety recommendations, the result can only be a very bad one. And when it comes to encounters between a bike and a car, it’s always the rider which comes off the worst, regardless of who’s to blame.

Now then, watching the video below showed me two things: the rider was traveling a tad too fast, while the Dacia driver definitely did not give a flying fudge on slowing down and checking for incoming traffic prior to steering left. Still, judging by the recorded image, the bike’s speed seems to be exaggerated a little by the superangular lens/ fisheye effect. Countless similar recordings show the same thing and it’s an optical illusion. Still, the bike was clearly over the legal speed limit, this seems to be certain.

On the other hand, the Dacia driver, reportedly a woman, seems to have been the main cause of this crash. After playing the video several times, it’s very obvious that the driver only slows down just a bit, but with no intention whatsoever of actually stopping to let any incoming traffic pass.

Basically, it looks like the Dacia driver simply tried to squeeze through to the left, come what may. It’s possible that she either ignored the bike completely or didn’t even acknowledge its presence. Whichever of these suppositions is true, we’ve seen this type of crash too many times, and the worst part is that such accidents will keep on happening as you read these very lines.

We can at least hope she did not blame God for the crash, like others did.
