Honda Files a Patent for RC213V-S, a Street Bike Derived from MotoGP Closer to Reality

Honda looks preoccupied to slowly bring a road going motorcycle derived from the MotoGP machines closer to reality. At least this is what we can guess seeing the house of Tokyo filing another patent for a section of a bike which looks strikingly similar to the concept showed last November in Milan.

Back at the EICMA, Honda revealed a bike with sober carbon fiber fairings that looked very much like the HRC test machines developed for premier class racing. However, a similar bike was also showed, and it was a lot more streetable than its (almost) menacing sibling.

Customers are anxious to get a bike that's the closest thing to Marc Marquez's winning beast

Even though MotoGP replica motorcycles are crazy-expensive, they have their customers for whom the difference between 100k and 150k is a minor detail. We've seen similar Ducati bikes that came with a price tag reading €230,000 ($250,000) or so, and the Honda RC213V-S will not be cheap, either.

Rumors have it that the RC213V-S would follow a customer home in exchange for a check reading €100,000 ($110,000), but honestly, everything is possible, including double that money.

Nothing is certain, however

Even though the bike pictured in pink by visordown looks very similar to what we shot at EICMA, it appears like the patent filed by Honda only covers the rear section, shown in grey.

The underseat exhaust complementing a slightly shorter one emerging in the lower right side of the bike looks a lot like MotoGP bikes, but we'll have to learn more about the future of the RC213V-S before we can think about selling that kidney.
