Honda expects its all-new Accord Plug-In Hybrid to exceed the 100 MPGe mark, courtesy of an equally-new hybrid system, which combines power from a 2.0-liter Earth Dreams petrol engine, with a 124 kW electric motor, reaching a total output of 196 hp.
With a battery pack of 6.7 kWh, the Accord Plug-In Hybrid can travel between 10 to 15 miles on electric power alone, before needing ‘under an hour’ to fully charge from a Level 2 charger, or less than three from a regular 120-volt wall outlet.

Distinguishing features, over the regular car, include different LED headlights which are available with a choice of colors (White Orchid Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl and Burnished Silver Metallic). The look is complimented by a redesigned front bumer, as well as some very interesting-looking wheels, both designed to improve airflow.

The plug-in version of the Accord Hybrid goes on sale early next year and, in the US at least, it will benefit from the $3,750 Federal income-tax credit. A regular hybrid version will follow in the summer of 2013.
