Engine tuning kits are now a new thing from Honda, but the 2013-2014 PGM-FI Tuning Kit brings a host of updates which will make your racing life much easier.
Probably the biggest update is the fact that technicians can now alter the figures in multiple cells at once, whereas previous models only allowed one parameter to be altered at a time. Needless to say, this new feature shortens the setup time dramatically, and time is of the essence in racing.
The tuning software is now compatible with Windows 7 as well as Windows 2000, SE, XP, and if you are truly weird, Vista.
2013-14 Honda CRF450R machines can now be set up for various tracks, riding conditions and rider preference much easier. Changes in fuel delivery and ignition timing degrees are now at your fingertips and performance can be adjusted really easy on the fly. Here are some tips directly from Honda:
- Fuel volume up (+): Small amounts of change will help create quicker throttle response and will correct a lean-running condition or compensate for modifications to engine, intake, or exhaust.
- Fuel volume down (-): Small amounts of change will help create milder throttle response and will correct a rich running condition or compensate for modifications to engine, intake, or exhaust.
- Ignition timing advanced (+): More aggressive power delivery.
- Ignition timing retarded (-): Less aggressive power delivery for good torque and power without an “edgy” feeling.
