Honda is very unlikely to keep the CR-Z around for vary long. Rumor has it that it's going to be dropped when the current model year expires, together with the Insight. We think it's a shame, since the world has too many Accords and not enough quirky, original cars like this. It's only fitting that we give the hybrid one last look and what better way to do that than with a nifty special edition.
From the land of the rising sun comes this, the CR-Z α · Dressed label III, supposedly a sharper looking version of the hybrid that's been around for quite some time now. Only 200 of them will ever be built, all defined by the blue accents that include interior stitching and painted trim.

Basically, these are top-spec hybrids that have LED daytime running lights, suede on the front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear know with blue accents and two-tone 17-inch wheels. In addition, a reversing camera and some cool aluminum peddles with black rubber blocks have been installed.

Four normal body colors are available: white, red, blue and black. In addition, two-tone combinations can also be ordered. All two-tone colors feature Crystal Black Pearl for the roof, pillars, door mirrors and the trunk sheetmetal. Body colors include Premium White Pearl, Polished Metal Metallic, Milano Red and Premium yellow Pearl.

The models will all be priced from 2,741,000 yen ($26,886) for both the models equipped with a 6-speed manual or the CVT.

Introduced in 2010, the CR-Z is basically Honda's idea of a Gen-Y car. Its name stands for Compact Renaissance Zero and its design is that of a 'sport hybrid coupe'. Powering this 4.1-meter two-door is a small 1.5-liter hybrid powertrain with i-VTEC technology that gets it from 0 to 100 km/h in a leisurely 9.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph).

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
