Honda Confirms UK Arrival of CR-Z Mugen

The standard version of Honda’s sporty hybrid, the CR-Z, is definitely an appealing car to buy, own and driver, however the high price and below par interior quality have kept some away from enjoying its great handling, good powertrain package and typically-Japanese yet stylish design.

Now, however, they want to make a bigger mark with the CR-Z, and they will be bringing the more extreme CR-Z Mugen to the UK. Plans were to initially sell the limited number of 300 cars only in Japan, but now Honda has come around and has announced that it will be bringing it to the UK, as well.

As we previously reported, the Mugen is immediately distinguishable from the regular car, with an overall lower stance which immediately makes it stand out, and so do the much more aggressive front bumper, side skirts, rear bumper and noticeable spoiler - the rims finish off the exterior look.

It also gets a decent amount of extra poke, with the 1.5-liter engine going up in power from 112 hp to 154 hp, via the installation of a supercharger - torque also increases, to 185 Nm. The electric motor produces another 20 hp and 78 Nm of torque, putting the combined output figure at a respectable 174 hp and 263 Nm.

This means that the CR-Z Mugen can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in around, or just under, eight seconds, and with the roar of the VTEC from under the bonnet, it will definitely feel even faster. No word on when exactly it is coming to the UK, how much it will cost, or how many they will be bringing over, but it will be some time next year.
