Honda Civic and Accord '40th Anniversary' Special Editions

Japanese manufacturer Honda announced today the release of two special edition vehicles, developed to mark and celebrate the company's 40th year of presence in Australia. The two models are the 40th Anniversary Civic LE and the 40th Anniversary Accord LE.

The Civic LE anniversary edition is based on the 1.8l Civic Vti. In addition to what you would regularly receive in this model, Honda added a few special features, worth a total of AU$2,000. The enhancements include 15 inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, rear parking sensors, tailored floor mats, chrome exhaust finisher and special 40th anniversary badging.

Engine wise, the Civic comes with the aforementioned unit, developing 138 hp, provides a combined fuel economy of 6.9 l/100 km and CO2 emission levels of 164 g/km. The engine is paired with both a 5-speed manual and optional 5-speed automatic transmission with grade logic control. Price for the anniversary Civic, which will see a limited production run of 800 units, is AU$24,990 (for the version equipped with manual transmission).

The other anniversary model, the Accord, is based on the version equipped with the 2.4l 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine. The unit develops 178 hp, making it, according to Honda, the most powerful four cylinder unit in the large car class. The engine is paired to a 5-speed auto transmission with grade logic control. The Accord eats up 8.8l of fuel to the hundred, while releasing 209g of CO2 every km.

Special features added to the anniversary edition are worth some AU$1,300 and include fog lamps, deluxe tailored floor mats, reversing sensors and Bluetooth. The special Accord, also built in a limited run of 800 units, will start at AU$34,990.
