Honda Announces 2010 Insight Accessories

Even though the 2010 Honda Insight is fairly new on the market, as it was officially unveiled at the 2009 North American Detroit Auto Show, the Japanese automaker has already announced accessories for the European production model. In short terms, the whole accessory set is based on exterior and interior decorative elements but it also includes a series of different elements, such as gadgets and various electronics.

The exterior decoration consists of metal look-door handles, high-strength plastics painted in crystal black plus body colored front, rear and side skirts. There are three different types of alloy wheels, namely 15-inch Crystal and 16-inch Cronos and Turbine. The front, rear and side body trims are made of soft material with flexible paint finish that “will protect the bodywork from any annoying scrapes and scratches that may occur in city traffic,” Honda said in press statement. Four front and rear parking sensors are also available, with both sets integrated into the front and rear bumper, respectively.

The interior features blue ambient lights, decorative panels plus front and rear doorstep garnish made of stainless steel and embossed with Honda Insight logo.

In terms of electronics, there are several gadgets available, including Honda's Compact Navigation System, a rear entertainment system plus hard-disk drive navigation.

The Compact Navigation System includes full European maps, Honda car and motorcycle dealers plus up-to-date traffic information available as an option. On the other hand, the Rear Entertainment System brings the option of adding a second monitor on the passenger side plus compact remote control and wireless headphones. The Hard Disk Drive navigation provides 40 GB of storage space for map data and multimedia content. An SD card reader is also included.

Beside all these functions, the package also includes a Bluetooth Phone System that lets drivers pair their mobile phone with the in-car speakers and talk on the phone while keeping their eyes on the road.
