Honda ADV Scooter Teased in New Video

Uncanny crossovers aren’t reserved for the car industry alone as Honda prepares to sell a model that’s the love fruit of a maxi-scooter and a light adventure bike. Yep, the Honda ADV is ready to enter production and the bike maker made sure we understand this by showing it off in a new teaser video.

The 34-second long clip starts with a tagline reading “Your horizons are going to change forever”, which is quite cool regarding the fact that you’ll be able to buy a comfortable, ergonomic maxi scooter that will be able to break the city limits and tackle some light off-road.

Being the first teaser, you can’t really have a straight look at the new ADV, with the video sequences cutting each other fast, but it’s enough to confirm some details. Such as the complex angular design, the upright position, a growling exhaust note and interesting-looking BMW-like wire rims that were present since the first CAD patent images.

It is also known that the ADV scooter borrows many parts from the Honda NC750X and Integra, including the frame, the 745cc parallel-twin engine as well as the DCT transmission. Setting it apart from the two, apart from the obvious design, are USD forks, the wired rims, different swingarm as well as twin front brakes with standard ABS for the Euro market.

The new Honda ADV could turn out to be a great commuter, although, with such amenities, the price will be quite steep. But we’re also worried about its off-road capabilities. That ground clearance looks like nothing to write home about and with a feet-forward riding position, it’s almost impossible to stand up and absorb large bumps.

Making a parallel to the car world, the ADV would be something like a crossover family car - advertised to be good both in the city and over rougher terrain, but with clients preferring to drive it on the asphalt 98% of the time.

Whatever the case, more details about the new Honda adventure-scooter are to be released on August 30, so make sure you keep the browser pointed at us.
