Homer Simpson Gives Directions on TomTom

A new voice has been added by TomTom to its some 70 celebrity voices available for their nav system's users. Homer Simpson, the guy who, up until now, gave advice only to his children ("Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.") and didn't plan much with his life ("All my life I've had one dream, to achieve my many goals.") can now be heard in cars in the UK or Ireland.

Don't expect Homer to be blunt and go "turn right, 50 meters". No, the guy will add some flavor to his piece of advice. You may, at one point, hear him say "Take the third right. We might find an ice cream truck! Mmm...ice cream." And we could go on with this types of lines, but this might be a spoiler, so...

"Celebrity voices are the most popular downloads that we offer our customers to enable them to personalise their driving experience. With Homer Simpson's voice helping them to navigate during their trip, TomTom users will not only travel safely and with less stress, but they will also be highly entertained along the way," Damian Woodward, TomTom UK and Ireland sales director says.

"Homer Simpson has one of the most identifiable voices in entertainment history. We have joined forces with TomTom to help celebrate The Simpsons historic 20th anniversary and will help provide a little levity for those long summer road trips ahead," Elie Dekel, Fox executive vice president added.

Having Homer as a trip partner does not require buying or installing tricky devices. Homer's voice is available for download and a few voice samples, by following this link. Homer's voice costs £7.95 (€9.95 in Ireland).
