You guys might be tempted to think that the Australian market Holden Trax is 100% identical to the Chevy Trax and Opel Mokka sold in Europe, after all, they are all made on the same assembly line.
That's not actually the same. Small cosmetic changes have been made to the grille to make this a Holden, but the proportions have remained the same. The biggest difference though is that this five-door SUV will only be available in Australia with one engine: a 1.8-liter petrol four-cylinder DOHC ECOTEC, rated at 103 KW and 175 Nm of torque.
It's available either with a standard 5-speed Gen 2 manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic. The manual gets the best efficiency, averaging 7 liters on the combined 100 km cycle, while the auto sucks up 7.6.
Prices will start at AU$23,490 Trax LS with a manual, while going for the auto adds another $2,200. Standard kit includes 16-inch alloy wheels, reverse parking sensors and rear-view camera, auto headlights, leather-wrapped steering wheel and the MyLink infotainment system.
The LTZ (yes, they are skipping the LT), you get 18-inch wheels, fog lights, heated front seats and standard automatic gearbox, all at $27,990.
“The SUV segment continues to grow rapidly with small SUV sales growing 20 per cent this year. Trax offers a great package at an exceptional price point and we believe it will pose an immediate challenge to established models when it arrives in Holden dealerships in September. None of the best-selling vehicles in this segment currently offer the same features for this price," said Holden Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Philip Brook.
