And by here we mean Australia, but that doesn't mean we can't just sit in front of the computer screen and drool while we read the performance sedan's spec list.

By the way, when the first HSV ClubSport saw daylight in 1990, it was with the introduction of the VN model powered by a 5.0-liter V8 generating 245 horsepower and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, plus 16-inch alloys and FE2 suspension.

Now, are you interested in seeing how much has this changed over a quarter of a century? If the answer is yes, let's get acquainted with the 25th Anniversary ClubSport R8.

The performance sedan uses a Generation IV LS3 alloy V8 engine good for 455 horsepower. Stopping power is the responsibility of the AP Racing forged four-piston brake calipers.

Clients can choose between a TR6060 Tremec 6-speed manual transmission or the optional 6L80E 6-speed automatic with Active Select and paddle shifters in their attempt of taming the vee-eight while their backs are hugged by HSV Performance seats in Onyx leather trim.

On the outside, buyers will be given bragging rights thanks to a set of light-weight 20-inch SV Rapier forged alloy wheels in gloss black finish along with the Hyperflow Performance rear spoiler adding a subtle racing flavor.

“ClubSport is a much revered nameplate in the HSV line-up,” said HSV’s Chief of Design and Styling, Julian Quincey. “The styling enhancements we’ve introduced pay homage to its racing heritage and, at the same time, give the vehicle added street presence and attitude,” he added.

Now, for the price part. Australians can have the performance sedan for $73,290 AUD, the equivalent of $54,116 US. The model will be offered in four exterior colours - Heron, Phantom, Sting and Nitrate, but only 100 units will be built, plus another batch of 8 cars for the New Zealand market.
