General Motors' Australian arm swiftly replaced the Commodore SV6, SS and Ute with slightly improved models bearing the 'Storm' suffix. These special edition models replace the standard vehicles from the lineup and will be sold for a limited time, in the following few months.
Let's start with the oily bits first, shall we? The Sedan, Sportwagon and Ute versions of the Commodore in Storm flavor all retain the same gasoline powerplants as the outgoing models.

The entry-level SV6 Storm is powered by a 3.6-liter SIDI V6 producing 210kW (285 horsepower) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. As for the SS Storm, this bad boy hides a 6.0-liter V8 under its hood, rated at 270kW (367 horsepower) and 530 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque when coupled to the six-speed manual. Opt for the slush box and the stats drop to 260kW (353 horsepower) and 517 Nm (381 lb-ft).

Both the SV6 and SS models gain a few styling and tech features, some of which were previously available only as optional extras. Customers can choose between nine different exterior paint colors. Five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels and front fog lamps with chrome trimming come as standard equipment.

Step inside and you'll be greeted by a revamped center console and redesigned dashboard, as we'll as Storm embroidery and red stitching across the black seats, door panels and dash. The 8-inch touchscreen MyLink infotainment system comes standard, offering satellite navigation, full iPod integration, Bluetooth phone connectivity with Enhanced Voice Control, Pandora and Stitcher Smart Radio, among others.

The all-new special edition Holden Commodore Sedan, Sportwagon and Ute are rated by ANCAP with a 5-star safety rating. All three models can be equipped with Reverse Traffic Alert and Automatic Park Assist.

Each version is AUD 500 more expensive than the replaced models, but that's a small price to pay if you take into account that the sat-nav alone was a AUD 750 optional extra before. The SV6 Stom Ute manual is the cheapest, retailing at AUD 33,490, while the SS Storm Sportwagon auto tops the manufacturer's price list at AUD 46,690.
