Holden Cruze is the Most Fuel-Efficient Australian-Built Car

Holden today unveiled the new Cruze range, including the most fuel-efficient car built in Australia. The Cruze powered by the new 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine mated to a manual gearbox achieves the impressive consumption figure of 5.6 liters per 100 kilometer (42 mpg). With CO2 emissions of 147 grams per kilometer, it is also one of the cleanest models in Australia.

At the launch, Holden’s Energy and Environment Director Richard Marshall stated the car is the latest addition to Holden’s Ecoline range of vehicles that use alternative fuel or fuel saving technologies. The 2.0-liter turbo diesel is available as on option on both the entry level CD and luxury CDX Cruze models.

“Holden created the Ecoline range to help customers easily identify economical vehicles in our portfolio which run on alternative fuel or take advantage of fuel-saving technologies,” Marshall said.

At the introduction of the Australian-made Cruze, one more addition to the Ecoline range was made - the new down-sized 1.4-liter turbo petrol which delivers great performance and economy.

“The Cruze models in the Ecoline range take advantage of the benefits of turbocharging diesel and small capacity petrol engines. This helps Cruze punch above its weight as a small car, with the sort of luxury and technology features people expect from larger vehicles, which is fun to drive and also extremely economical to run,”
Marshall added, while also stating the fact that these cars are engineered for local conditions and are made in the country, which makes everyone at Holden proud.

The Cruze range also includes an upgraded version of the current 1.8-liter petrol engine. All three petrol and diesel powertrains meet the latest Euro 5 emission standards.
