Holden Cruze CDX Diesel Variant Launched

Australian carmaker Holden today announced the release of a new CDX diesel model that will be offered with either manual or automatic transmissions. This is the fourth version in the Cruze range, following CD diesel, CD and CDX petrol models which are already on sale.

The CDX diesel will offer the same features as the petrol variant, plus an extra tire inflator kit. When equipped with a manual unit, the CDX diesel achieves 5.7 l/100km (41.2 mpg) while with an automatic unit it burns 6.9 liters of diesel every 100 km (34 mpg).

Projected to go on sale in early 2010, the CDX diesel will be priced at $27,990 with a manual unit and at $29,990 with an automatic configuration.

“Since we launched in June, Cruze has really struck a chord with motorists, selling over 6,144 units to date and market feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” Holden’s Executive Director Sales and Marketing, John Elsworth, said in a statement for the press. "Cruze has shot straight into the top 10 of Australia’s best selling cars – we’re delighted with the reception it’s getting in the marketplace."

"Cruze offers outstanding value for money and we’re seeing many customers opting to buy the higher specified model with the petrol powertrain. Diesel is proving a popular alternative so it made sense to introduce a new model that offers the best of both worlds. The high level of features offered on the CDX combined with the performance and fuel efficiency of the diesel makes it a smart choice. We’ve been listening to what our customers have been asking for and this is our response.”

Here are the main features of the new CDX Diesel as provided by Holden:

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
  • Six airbags
  • 17 inch alloy wheels
  • Cruise control
  • Leather steering wheel
  • Leather appointed seats with heated front seats
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Steering wheel audio and cruise controls
  • Trip computer
  • Power windows, front and rear
  • Automatic headlamps
