Hofele Audi A5 Gets R8 Look

Despite the recession, tuning is not a dying business. People continue to pay for modified cars, and tuners continue to cash in on their design modifications and engine tweaks. But every once in a while, tuners mess up in their attempt to improve the model.

Talking about messing up, we guess it’s safe to say that German tuner Hofele just did that, with its new creation: the Audi A5 which is supposed to look like a R8. As you can see, the tuned A5 is desperately trying to look like its mid-engined brother, but the effect can be only described as bad taste.

If you cannot afford an R8, but you really want your A5 to look like one, you should know that the “R8-look” tuning kit from Hofele includes:
  • complete front bumper with R8 lamella inserts
  • complete rear bumper with R8 V10 diffusor and lamella inserts
  • air intakes for the front fender
  • side skirts with air intake
  • Side Blades
  • rear spoiler
  • rear apron

If the thought even crossed your mind and you’re thinking no one can tell this is not an A5, you’re wrong. You’re embarrassing yourself, especially as the 3.6 liter V6 which produces 265 hp and 330 Nm is nothing like R8’s monster, the 5.2 liter V10 which boosts 525 hp and 530 Nm.

The R8-look Hofele tuning kit can also be mounted on the A5 Cabrio, but take care. Even if the R8 Spyder does not have any side blades, the A5 does. What were they thinking?
