HKS Partner with Tilke for US Grand Prix Track Construction

The American meant business when they engaged in an effort to bring Formula One back on US soil and keep it there for the long run. After securing the services of famous F1 track designer Hermann Tilke for the construction of the layout – actually, that deal came with the territory, as Tilke is known to be a good friend of Bernie Ecclestone – the organizers of the US Grand Prix in Austin Texas have announced another partner for the construction of the F1 complex.

If Tilke will take care of the layout, track texture and related topics, architectural design firm HKS will take care of the adjacent issues, including facility architecture and design.

Having industry leaders in sports facility architecture and design raises the bar for future motorsports facilities in this country and around the world. We are pleased that a collaboration of this calibre will take place in Texas,” announced Tavo Hellmund, chairman of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, in a press release.

We are honoured to work with Tilke, a global leader in racetrack construction, and the entire Formula 1 United States team. Our design expertise, coupled with this world entity, will result in a destination environment that will elevate the face of Formula 1 United States on a global scale and further enhance one of America’s great cities,” added Mark Williams, principal with HKS.

For some of you who want some credentials for the Dallas, Texas headquartered company, know that it has successfully helped to the building of several sports venues, such as Liverpool's Anfield football stadium, Estadio Maracana in Rio de Janeiro and last but not least, Dallas Cowboys' home stadium in Arlington, Texas, the one and only Cowboys Stadium (in which Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones invested no less than $1.3 billion and will host this year's Super Bowl L, the 50th edition of the most watched sporting event on the Planet).
