Haven’t you ever wanted your car to make that satisfying blow-off valve sound when you lift off the throttle, but the engine was naturally aspirated? Well, now you can fool your friends with the HKS-approved iBoost app.
It measures longitudinal acceleration using the iPhone’s built-in accelerometer and whenever it senses a let-up in acceleration it makes a pre-selected BOV sound, mimicking the natural behavior of a turbocharged engine. It will probably be used primarily to fool one’s friends and, considering the fact that the app looks pretty polished and it was developed in collaboration with HKS, we expect it to work properly. According to Nathan Hamey, the lead designer of the app, “Working with HKS has been a blast [...] The partnership has given us pit-lane access to extract the best sounds possible from their SQV. We've also painstakingly crafted their boost gauges to look and respond just like the real thing. I think people are going to get a real buzz out of seeing and hearing authentic HKS gear in their car."
