Hispania to Miss Jerez Test This Week

Only 11 cars will get to enjoy some track time during the upcoming group test in Jerez, as Hispania Racing F1 Team will miss this week's meeting in Spain. After participating in the Valencia test session with their 2010-spec F1 car, the Spanish squad will only join the rest of the field during the last test in Spain, in Barcelona.

The reason why HRT F1 will miss the test in Jerez is because they'll be doing some filming work with Formula 1's official tire supplier Pirelli, at Monza. The filming-purposed session will take place in the first 3 days of next week, immediately after the Jerez test will conclude.

We are happy to support Pirelli in Monza,” said team boss Colin Kolles yesterday, in a statement for the press.

Also yesterday, the team unveiled their F111 race car for the 2011 season, along with the preliminary livery for the upcoming campaign. However, as revealed by Kolles, neither the car, nor its livery are in their final form, as several modifications are likely to be implemented by the Bahrain Grand Prix in mid-March.

There are several portions of the car that still write “This could be you”, meaning the team is still on the lookout for sponsors. The only name present on the car is that of Indian carmaker Tata Motors.

Before the unveiling of their 2011 single-seater, HRT had hinted, through race driver Narain Karthikeyan, that the first test with the new F111 will happen in Bahrain, one week before the season opener.
