Hispania Racing F1 Team Confirms Name for 2010 Season

It has now been confirmed as an official fact that Spanish team Campos Meta will change its name into Hispania Racing F1 Team for the 2010 season of Formula One. The rumors that this will happen started surfacing in the Spanish media on Tuesday, but it was initially believed that the move would be confirmed during the media event scheduled to take place on Thursday, in Murcia.

However, during the course of this morning, the team announced via a press release that the new name has already been agreed upon, while expected to be ratified by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in due time. Additionally, the statement confirmed that the launch of the team's 2010 challenger will take place tomorrow, in Murcia, when also the complete management of the team will be unveiled to the public.

The new team name signifies a new birth for our Formula 1 ambitions and highlights the incredible effort that is going on behind the scenes to ensure we make a successful debut in Bahrain on 14 March,” new team principal Colin Kolles was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

While we are a new team in the paddock, we will be very proud to stand alongside such legendary names as Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and Lotus, as we hope to build our own reputation in the coming years,” added the Romanian-born team principal.

It was also confirmed that the team's base will be Alzira, Alicante, until the new base in Murcia will be complete during the course of this season. Apart from presenting its team and car for the season to come, new owner Jose Ramon Carabante will also confirm Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok for the 2010 campaign.
