Without a rider in the recent Dutch Grand Prix, the Czech team Cardion AB has finally reached an agreement for the upcoming German round. It's going to be a Honda rider aboard the Cardion production racer, but his name is Hiroshi Aoyama, HRC's test rider.
Ahead of Assen, rumors circulated indicating World Superbike rider Michael van der Mark as the replacement rider for Cardion AB's Karel Abraham. Karel was once more forced to skip rounds after he crashed in Free Practice 4 at Barcelona and injured one foot, with a severely dislocated toe.

No agreement initially between Cardion AB and HRC

The conditions seemed perfect, as HRC, WSBK team Ten Kate and van der Mark were okay with having the latter making his debut in the premier class. Still, Abraham Sr., the owner of both Cardion AB and the Brno circuit and the father of Karel, apparently asked Honda to provide compensations in case of a crash. HRC and Cardion AB have not reached an agreement in this direction and the whole deal went up in flames.

Aoyama is no rookie and has less chances to crash

We will delve deeper in this matter and try to find out the details of the deal, but it looks like having van der Mark on Cardon's MotoGP bike was an equation with too many unknowns.

Most likely, his lack of premier class experience and the lack of time for getting properly briefed on how to ride one were the strongest points in Abraham Sr. asking for a money guarantee.

Aoyama is an experienced MotoGP rider who also competed in the premier class on the Open Class Honda RCV1000R under the Aspar flag and has also substituted for Dani Pedrosa.

Anniversary livery for Suzuki at Sachsenring and a limited-edition Gixxer

Team Ecstar Suzuki announces that their two bikes will be donning a special livery for the German GP on July 12th. This year Suzuki celebrates three decades of GSX-R machinery, with the initial GSX-R750 launched in 1985.

Alongside the new bike liveries for Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales, Suzuki will unveil a new limited-edition production bike that will be available worldwide this summer.
