There are few people on this planet that never heard about the famous German-designed Volkswagen Beetle and even fewer that haven’t seen the Type 2 van, also known under the Transporter Kombl or Microbus names. As one of the forerunners of the modern cargo and passenger vans, the Type 2 gave rise to forward control competitors in the United States in the 1960s, including the Ford Ecoline, the Dodge A100, and the Chevrolet Corvair 95 Corvan, the latter adopting the Type 2’s rear-engine configuration.

However, this precious minibus was by far considered to be the hippie van of choice, a vehicle that transported Flower Power teens to music festivals and campgrounds. It was the car most popular during the counterculture movement of the 1960s. So in a way, this tent could make any person staying in it travel back into that era.

The durable polyester shell is quickly installed over a steel frame, with fiberglass poles and optional guy ropes that anchor the tent securely. At 72 inches (1,8 meters) high, the spacious interior provides enough clearance for adults to stand. It comes with a clip-in divider that creates two private sleeping areas, with built-in storage pockets and a screen door that keeps out bugs and lets in air.

Well, you probably already knew everything about the T2, but we’re pretty sure you didn’t know that in fact this model is not even that old. As a matter a fact, Brazil contained the last factory in the world that produced the T2. The last one ever created was in December 31, 2013 due to the introduction of more stringent safety regulations in the country.
