Even though the new Hesketh 24 motorcycle was first announced to debut in February this year, it looks like the manufacturer got delayed with preparing the bike. With little explanations offered for this delay, Hesketh Motorcycles has finally announced a new launch date and a place. Those willing to lay eyes on the new Hesketh 24 bike can do so between 26 and 29 June, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Southern England.
The Hesketh 24 will be unveiled on the first day of the festival, alongside other vintage V1000 bikes, original clothing and merchandise for sale. This new bike is faithful to the old architecture, so it is powered by an 1,950cc, 56-degree v-twin engine supplied by S&S Cycle and which will deliver 118 horsepower, hopefully enough to make the Hesketh 24 as fast and aggressive as the Formula 1 car and racing heritage it pays tribute to.
Despite its classic design cues, the Hesketh 24 has the fuel tank under the engine, to help with a much lower center of gravity and better maneuverability. The tank holds 22 liters (5.8 US gal) of fuel and should provide quite a decent range, even when ridden hard on the track.
A true high-performance machine, the Hesketh will be equipped with Brock’s Performance BST carbon fiber wheels, Öhlins suspensions, Beringer hardware, and more top-drawer parts. The livery evokes the colors of the P308 Formula 1 car James Hunt used to race for Lord Hesketh’s team back in 1974 and 1975. No price was announced for the Hesketh 24, but the bike will be available in the same ultra-limited 24-unit run, and we can bet it’s not going to be a cheap machine.
