Bargain chasers, get your computers up and running, because this might be an offer you can't refuse. Hertz, one of the biggest rental companies in the world, decided to make an extra buck from its used rental cars and now sells them online, using a new platform developed by Advent Resources.
Unfortunately, the service, launched on DealerDirect, is only available to dealerships. The advantages for dealers of used cars is that Hertz is selling the models without any transaction fees, meaning that the prices to be paid for a car should be lower than usual. Hopefully, that will reflect in the price sticker of the cars on the dealerships' floors as well.
The process for purchasing a car, or more, is very simple. Hertz is not posting any prices on the website, but requires the dealers to submit an offer to purchase and provide payment information. After that, if all is agreed upon, it will all go down as does any transaction.
Dealers can search for cars that are currently on rent and available for sale, but can also gain access to information about the models which are ready to be bought. This means that if you, as a dealer, find a car that you like, you can reserve the right to purchase it as soon as Hertz withdraws it from its rental fleet and puts it up for grabs.
"It is exciting for us to have the opportunity to develop the platform supporting the Hertz Dealer Direct program, and to play a significant role in such an innovative remarketing solution," said Advent Resources President Tim Gill.
