Supermodel Naomi Campbell made headlines this summer with her “little” airport routine, which was anything but, as it included anything from wiping down with sanitary wipes everything she touched and wearing a surgical mask.
As it turns out, she is right at least on that first count. Airplanes are known to be full of germs, because they fit lots of people at a single time and not all of them have that life-saving habit of washing their hands. Still, if you need any more evidence of just how dirty planes can get and why you should always make sure you clean everything you touch, the video available at the bottom of the page should do just fine.

It was recorded on an August 20 flight on Air Canada, when a female passenger proceeded to wipe down with wet wipes 3 different seats on the plane. Well, she cleaned the headrest, not the entire seat. The result is shocking – and quite gross: by the time she was done, the wipes were black. Just like she’d wiped the floor with them.

“We did not talk to the crew,” the man who filmed the video told Newsflare, after the vid went viral. “We have put out a complaint to Air Canada today (September 3), but they haven’t responded yet.”

That said, the 5 dirtiest places on an airplane are the headrests, the seatbelts, the tray tables, the seat pockets and the handles to the washroom. The headrests rank at the top because that’s the area most people touch when they get in or out of the plane, on their way to the seat or towards the exit.

Aside from wiping these areas with alcohol wipes, if you want to get to your destination without getting sick, make sure you also keep your hands to yourself as much as possible and that you wash / clean them as often as possible.
