An electric compressor that assists two turbochargers is the secret to the suck-squeeze-bang-blow of the 4.0-liter TDI V8, the most powerful turbo diesel ever made by the Volkswagen Group. In the SQ7 for the 2020 model year, the engine develops 435 metric horsepower and no fewer than 900 Nm (664 pound-feet) of torque.
The mid-cycle refresh of the SQ7 comes with familiar styling for the exterior, including full-LED headlamps and a larger-than-life grille. Twin vertical slats differentiate the SQ7 from lesser powertrain options, and at the rear, the quad exhausts mean business.

Slight modifications were also made to the rear bumper, aerodynamic diffuser, and underbody protection. A black styling package brings the point home, and the Audi Exclusive Program helps the customer tailor the vehicle’s color with incommensurable choices.

20-inch wheels come standard with 285/45 tires on all four corners, and the brake discs measure 15.7 and 14.6 inches for additional stopping power. Carbon-ceramic brakes are also available, measuring 16.5 inches up front and 14.6 at the rear while featuring anthracite gray calipers.

If you were wondering how fast the SQ7 is, prepare to be impressed. Maximum torque is delivered at 1,250 rpm, translating to 4.8 seconds from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph). The top speed, however, is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) for safety reasons.

Moving on to the cabin of the full-size luxury SUV, the SQ7 features no fewer than two touchscreens and a digital instrument cluster. The physical controls for the air conditioning and heater are now integrated into the lower display, giving the interior an airy feel for both the driver and front passenger.

Care to guess how much this gentle giant costs? Pricing in Germany has been announced at 94,900 euros for the five-seat configuration. Customers who need the third row of seats need to shell out 96,420 including value-added tax, which is a lot of money considering that the options list is understandably extensive.
