Here’s Some More Ferrari FXX K Goodness in the Wet on Spa-Francorchamps

The Ferrari FXX K is not a car for the faint hearted. As a matter of fact, the Italian manufacturer is said to be literally protecting you by keeping it stored for the customers and not allowing them to take it home. At least that’s what early reports claimed but recent info seems to suggest otherwise.

Some owners came forth and said that it’s no longer the case and that if you want to, Ferrari is now allowing you to take your prized hypercar to the track. The thing is, for €2.5 million, the Italians are offering you quite a good deal if they take care of your ride and also carry it to the track whenever you want to actually drive it.

No matter what some claim, the recent event held by the prancing horse company at the Spa-Francorchamps seems to point to the same policy that was applied to the 599XX and the FXX models (they too were kept by Ferrari and only ‘loaned’ to their respective owners).

I don’t know about you, but I’d be pretty annoyed if I paid all that money for this car and couldn’t have it in my backyard to show off to my friends whenever they come over. I mean, I can’t drive it on the road anyway with it being a proper race car and all that, so what’s the worse that could happen?

In the meantime, we’re greeted from Belgium by a new video showing us plenty of FXX K models going at it in a heavy rain. Considering how soaking wet the track was, we’re surprised nobody got injured. After all, we’re talking about a car that is still using a naturally aspirated engine, a V12 good for 848 horsepower. To that, you also add 187 electric ponies thanks to KERS, raising the total to 1,036 HP. And yes, the K in the name is from KERS.

All of that is being kept in place by those interesting aerodynamic bits and pieces. To get a better idea of how they work, you should know that the FXX K has an aerodynamic efficiency of 2.84. Doesn’t mean that much, huh? Well, picture this: a Formula 1 car is 3. That’s right! Furthermore, you’ll get up to 1,200 lbs of downforce at 124 mph (200 km/h), an incredible amount by any comparison.

With only 40 units ever made, it’s a rare sight to see so many of them out on a track at the same time. Just sit back and enjoy the sound of greatness!
