In case you’re not a big fan of the epic space odyssey franchise, you probably haven’t skipped work to recreate famous Star Wars scenes with your geek friends in your attic. Maybe some of you haven’t seen any of the movies either. But we’re more than certain you are accustomed to Luke Skywalker’s R2-D2 astromech droid.
Artoo-Deetoo is an icon if you so wish to call him. A fictional character who will remain one of George Lucas’ greatest creations. Like it or not, there are plenty of Star Wars fans out there that also drive cars. Sure, few if any own a Hellcat, but even so, some of them wrap their cars as a tribute for the epic franchise.

The gifted Star Wars fan in question also is a Volkswagen Transporter driver. Apparently, he decided it was time he’d leave Tatooine for a change and embark on a rather Earthier experience, one that involves refreshing his car with a new look. What he did was recreating all the objects on R2D2 and adapt them to fit on the bus. According to his Instructables log, all the measurements and computer work took about 50 hours, plus vinyl wrapping “till we lost count”.

The vehicle itself is a 1992 Volkswagen Transporter that is powered by 1.6-liter air-cooled engine with staggering 58 hp that was converted to run on CNG too. We’re not going to spoil the fellow’s struggle; we only want to say that for a guy with no experience in car wrapping, the VW bus sure turned out entirely alright.

Random factor: I understand there are still some people out there who don’t know why May 4th is commonly referred as Star Wars Day so we’ll take the time to say why. Long story short, the date was chosen for the easy pun on the catchphrase “May the Force be with you” - “May the Fourth be with you”.
