Not a long time ago we were telling you guys about this rather peculiar partnership Mercedes-AMG sealed with Cigarette Racing creating a high-performance boat. Not that the pictures and specs weren’t impressive already, but seeing is believing. Ever since they unveiled the speed-vessel dubbed Cigarette Racing 50 Marauder GT S Concept, we’ve been waiting for some video coverage, and now it finally arrived.
In case you have lost count of Mercedes-AMG’s somewhat strange marketing partnerships, let us take the time to refresh you memory. If it’s not fashion or accessories, the Germans will make sure they find other particular ways to connect with new customers who they believe could soon enough turn into future buyers (of course). No problem here, but what would you think if we were to tell there’s even a Mercedes-AMG ballpoint pen that can make V8 engine sounds?
Our point is that luxury carmakers have no problem with sticking their noses in almost anything other than vehicles as long as they can find a way to promote their products, which reads cars. Such is the case with their partnership with the boat racing team, which they have been working with now and then for the last five years.
The newest model is inspired by the Mercedes-AMG GT and was unveiled at the Miami Boat Show in February. Since we were quite impressed by its looks and its specs, we’ve been eager to see it in action.
The power boat was taken to the water earlier last month, and we managed to find a video with it the other day. It turns out the specs were only telling half of the story, as the power boat simply is smooth, sturdy and, of course, fast.
