Mercedes-Benz just announced it’s going to build a ute for the Australian market, and all sorts of people started suggesting that BMW might follow suit. The thing is, they didn’t know that there’s already such a model out there, and it also has six wheels, unlike the drawing we saw from Stuttgart.
There is something you need to know about what you’re about to see. This isn’t a real car. Unfortunately, it’s a scale model it’s looking rather good anyway. At least to an enthusiast that is.

This is the creation of user Alf33 from the ModelCarForum.de forum, and it was put together a while back, when the E53 X5 was still in production. Our good man wanted something special, something no scale model manufacturer was offering at the time: a 6x6 X5 pickup.

Since there was no such thing on the market, he had to improvise. Therefore, what you see here is a mix-up made of parts from two models of the SUV. Of course, no expensive versions were used but the cheapest ones around.

Then, after glueing them bits and pieces together in a sort of Frankensteinian experiment, our good man decided to paint the end result and here’s what he came up with. The writings on the sides get me every time as they must’ve been hell to do.

Furthermore, the man is clearly a BMW fan as his collection also includes a couple of Isettas that you can see in the last photo, all bundled up on a flatbed. Beautiful work!
