Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy S21 earlier this month, and here we are some two weeks later, highlighting the first reports of issues when using this mobile device with Android Auto.
While not everybody has received the new Galaxy S21 since the shipping is only in its early days, there are now only occasional reports of problems with Android Auto when connecting the phone to a compatible head unit.
In theory, the latest-generation phone should provide nothing but a flawless experience from one end to another, only that the Galaxy S21 seems to be struggling with the same problems as its predecessors.
The very first reports in this regard are now live on Google’s forums, with Galaxy S21 owners claiming that connecting the phone to the head unit to run Android Auto is not working. The connection to the screen isn’t detected, and changing the cables doesn’t seem to make any difference for now.
Someone on Google’s forums claims Android Auto with Galaxy S21 is broken in a car where an older Note10 is working just fine, and this makes some believe Samsung’s latest Android phone is the one to blame for the whole thing. A Suzuki Swift owner also claims the Galaxy S21 fails to connect to the head unit and run Android Auto in a car where a Galaxy S9+ works just flawlessly.
Switching to the Galaxy S9+ cable to power the experience behind the wheel doesn’t restore Android Auto on a Galaxy S21 either.
Of course, it’s too early to tell if this is a widespread problem or not, but on the other hand, it’s another confirmation that not even the latest and greatest Android device guarantees a flawless experience with Android Auto. At this point, neither Google nor Samsung acknowledged the problems. It remains to be seen if a fix or a workaround for these connectivity struggles are eventually provided.
