With the Sian, Lamborghini has for the first time stepped into the realm of hybrid cars. What came out in public last week is this Aventador-based machine that is the quickest Lambo ever made, with an acceleration time of 2.8 seconds.
Now on the grounds of the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the car shines under the spotlights, with its body panels embellished with golden flakes and golden crystals. It is there to show the rest of us what we could have had, but never will.

That's because of the 63 units Lambo plans to make, none are left to buy. The entire run was sold out, for undisclosed prices, long before the car was unveiled last week.

So, only 63 people in the world will get the V12 engine and all its 785 hp, enhanced by a 48-volt e-motor that cranks out an additional 34 hp. With a total of 819 hp, that means only 63 people will get the most potent Lamborghini in history.

The e-motor fitted in the car draws its power not from a conventional lithium-ion battery, but from a supercapacitor that is three times more potent than a battery of the same weight. The fun part of using such a technology is that the supercapacitor can be recharged to full capacity instantly, every time the brakes are applied.

Despite the additional hardware fitted inside the car, the Sian still has the “lowest weight-to-power ratio of the Lamborghini V12 family ever:” That's because the 34 kg added are canceled out by the 34 hp gained.

“The Sián is a masterpiece in possibilities,” said when the car was unveiled Stefano Domenicali, Lamborghini CEO.

"The Lamborghini Sián represents the first step in Lamborghini’s route to electrification, and expedites our next-generation V12 engine. Its Sián moniker, meaning ‘flash or lightning’ in Bolognese dialect, denotes the first electrification of a Lamborghini production car and confirms our strong connection to the territory in which we operate."
