Here's One of the Best Street-Tuned Toyota AE 86

Perfection is something very relative in car culture – some think this is achieved simply by lowering your luxury sedan and fitting it with some bling wheels; other prefer to restore a classic car and make it look as day one while for others styling has to be matched by performance to achieve perfection.

The latter is perfectly represented by Patrick Murray's red Toyota AE 86 Trueno GT specially customized to attack Irish country roads and recently featured by the SpeedHunters. Built with passion, his AE 86 best represents the classic Kanagawa hachiroku style.

What's on the outside

Patrick's AE 86 uses a perfect combination of Goodline Ground Effect front bumper, Goodline Ground Effect hood, Run Free side skirts and rear bumper, FRP hatch with integrated TRD N2 wing, East Bear Type 1 mirrors, custom made metal flared arches and a beautiful Ferrari Red Corsa 322 paint. Being a JDM classic, wheels are 15-inch RS Watanabes wrapped in a combination of Toyo and Nexen tires.

How's the interior

Simple and functional – those are the dominant aspects of this hachiroku's cockpit. Stripped out of unnecessary things, it comes with a Funky Carrot 6-point roll cage, Bride bucket seats, a Nardi steering wheel, TRD Duracon gear knob and a 10,000 rpm tachometer.

OK, now the engine

Pop up that vented hood and you'll find a 1.6-liter 4A-GE engine using a late AE92 7-rib block, 12.5:1 compression, HKS camshafts, pulleys, camshafts and belts, Wossner forged pistons, 440cc injectors and more other performance parts, taking up the power output to 184 hp. Just enough to make the car stick its rear end out and keep it there.
