It was August of 2020 when Bugatti proudly announced it was finally kicking off the deliveries of the 1,500-PS Divo, completing around two years of extensive development and proudly announcing a new era of modern coachbuilding for the exotic French manufacturer.
Let’s jump to the first days of 2021 after we previously saw the Divo getting ready to enjoy its collectible status and Bugatti come up with a host of novelties, including an aviation-inspired Chiron Sport limited series.
The company is now kicking off a new year with a bang or, rather, with an $18 million assembly of Divo examples. That’s because three of the four examples commissioned through its dealer partner Bugatti Beverly Hills have reached the U.S. West Coast, escaping the frigid temperatures currently bestowed upon Molsheim.
If there were any other three vehicles, seeing them together ahead of delivery wouldn’t qualify as a special moment, but given the Divo’s status we need to spend a minute or two and enjoy this very expensive trio. We might never see them together after each one reaches its intended customer.
More importantly, this might be the final occasion to see three Bugatti Divo in a single place, as the company has also announced it’s on the verge of wrapping up the delivery process during the first months of 2021. Plus, we’re suckers for high-end performance machines, Californian sun, and private retreats such as “The Thermal Club” in Palm Desert, California.
Bugatti has pledged to create just 40 examples of the Divo, each one customized to the most intimate desires of the customers. That’s just part of the experience since the Divo is – just like any other Bugatti out there – both exclusive and a pinnacle of the high-performance segment.
As a reminder, the Divo is powered by the company’s 8.0-liter W16 engine, massaged to achieve 1,500 PS (1,479 hp) and capable of taking the track monster to a limited top speed of 380 kph (236 mph). Bugatti’s price tag for each? No less than €5 million, which is around $6,072,850 at the current exchange rates.
