Here It Is: Lexus NX in Official Photos

Only ten days separate us from the Lexus NX official unveil at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, but with all those leaked photos of yesterday, the automaker had to respond in some way. And what else could Lexus do than to release some official high quality photos with the long awaited NX.

Well, here it is - the Lexus NX 300h and its F Sport version looking like it’s going to murder you when filling up its tank.

As we were telling you yesterday judging on the leaks, the NX uses most of the lines we saw on the LF-NX concept. ‘Much of the lines’ as in ‘all but the most interesting ones’, because all the outlandish shapes have been toned down.

So, despite the big spindle grille being kept almost the same, those unique vertical vents cutting up through the L-shaped daytime running lights are not quite there. There is a sharp line there to remind of it, but the slit has been softened with and arched shape.

The side lines are pretty much the same with the concept. The fenders are not that much flared but it still looks apart unlike other compact crossovers on the market.

But then comes the rear end, where all the craziness morphed into a somehow normal looking hatch. Don’t worry though, because it still looks cooler than the RX’s rear end due to some big L-shaped taillamps guarding a large trapezoidal extrusion on the hatch, while the bumper comes with a diffuser-like lower portion to spice things up a bit. Those huge rear vents have transformed sadly into two simple creases going from the corner of the taillights down into the bumper.

The F Sport version comes with some nice visual touches as we have been accustomed so far. The front end receives a color keyed lower lip spoiler and a fully meshed F grille, the rear comes with two parallelogram chrome exhaust tips and that special liquid titanium finish, making the whole car look like it has been chiseled out of a single block of metal. Just amazing...

We don’t really like the F Sport wheels, though. They seem to have been made in a rush, because they look almost the same with what you get on the standard model, but with carved out spokes. We were expecting something pointier or at leas a different design.

Safety reasons pushed the designers into also getting rid of the nicely sculpted metallic parts inside that you saw on the concept. Still, the dashboard’s shapes have been retained and even that crazy metallic demon-horns-looking central console found its way on the production model.

Among the features, the NX will come with the new Remote Touch Interface, wireless charging spot on the central console, a Panoramic View Monitor, comprehensive Multi-information Display, a G sensor and a “boost pressure meter” which means there will be a turbo version for this baby.

Overall, the Lexus NX looks amazing and we’re sure it looks even better in real life. Just like the other new Lexus models managed to impress us so far, we expect the NX won’t make an exception. But we’ll have to wait a bit more as the crossover is expected to reach dealerships around October or so.
